drawing of the day #9 - touching grass with limited energy

I haven't shaken off the post-Eid fatigue very much yet, and honestly it's a mite bit distressing, especially when work is starting to pick up and my mom will be going into surgery soon (as in next week, as of writing this post).

Alhamdulillah though, I did have the energy to muster enough to open a few sketch commissions (three for now, I'm still waiting on one client to send in his references, but I just finished the first two), so here they are:

I made a sketch of a new OC too:

I've also been going out a lot lately — aside from the usual number of errands and appointments the past few weeks, on April 4, I went to the Islamic Arts Museum in Kuala Lumpur together with a group of people that have been doing comic jams every Saturday for months now - excursions like this have been very helpful in building a visual library & finding inspiration. I think I might be at a very Malay time of my life (except I am Malay, so that's just business as usual). Some highlights:

I continue to posit that Southeast Asia is a region still untapped for potential for fantasy settings & design inspiration, but that's a story for another day.

It's a bit sad how I have so much I want to do and see, and how accessible it is now that I live in Kuala Lumpur, but goodness me, the lack of energy to do them is a bit disheartening! I'm just budgeting my energy to choose where I want to go and what I want to experience now, but I sometimes do wish I can experience it all. It's the same with drawing - I want to draw everything, but I end up needing to carefully plan what to draw and how I want to draw. But I'm thankful that all these "touching grass" events and errands have given me the avenue to draw things on the go. It helps to not be so cooped in my home; I think experiencing the outside world can do wonders not only to my health but to my desire to create.
